Type of Assignment: Full-Time Faculty

Position Available: MiraCosta Colleges Biological Sciences Department invites applications for an equity-minded, full-time (10 months per year), tenure-track faculty position beginning in August 2025. Principal responsibilities include instruction in Foundations of Biology-Evolution, Biodiversity, and Organismal Biology (BIO202). The individual selected will share leadership roles with other full-time instructors in coordinating and developing curriculum, using culturally responsive pedagogical techniques, and in coordinating the overall program.RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:MiraCosta College Board Policy 7800: Employee Residency requires all full-time faculty to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within two-hundred (200) road miles from the employees regularly assigned district worksite. The purpose of the policy is to promote efficiency and continuity throughout all campus administrative functions, provide students with high quality assistance and accessibility to all academic and campus services, ensure that students receive an engaging education, and respond to emerging student needs.The District may consider an individual request to temporarily reside outside of the State of California or outside the 200-mile limit on a case-by-case basis, not to exceed twelve consecutive months.

Compensation: $85,435 (class I, step 1) to $143,026 (class VI-doctorate, step 10)

Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications:
1. Master's degree in any biological science (NOTE: The following are some degrees that do not qualify as biological science degrees and therefore require equivalency - MD, DVM, OD, DDS, DC, biochemistry, bioengineering, biomedical science, biophysics, biotechnology, environmental science, pharmacology); OR

2. Bachelor's degree in any biological science AND a Master's degree in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science; OR

3. the equivalent. Applicants who do not possess the EXACT degree major(s) required to meet the minimum qualifications must attach an equivalency narrative and supporting documentation at the time of application. 4. a fully satisfied, lifetime California Community College credential authorizing instruction/service in the appropriate subject matter; AND
